HOW TO SELECT THE RIGHT WINCH
The best way to choose a winch for your rig is to first calculate the max load you expect your vehicle to place on the winch, so you can select a winch with an adequate rated line-pull or capacity for a variety of recovery scenarios. And then determine what type of winch line meets your needs.
Enchain winches offer a system for securing cargo on flatbed trailers and other vehicles. Enchain stocks a variety of winches available for specific applications.
When it comes to vehicle recovery, the winch packs a powerful punch. As one of the most useful self-recovery tools out there, a winch can help recover stuck vehicles from all kinds of obstacles, including mud, snow and ice, and sand.
With great power comes great responsibility, however. Thoroughly acquaint yourself with the user guide, ensure you have a comprehensive winch kit, and learn proper and safe winching techniques before hitting the trails.
All Enchain winches are manufactured to meet the requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Enchain winches can be used with 2”, 3” or 4” heavy-duty flatbed webbing straps, cable, or a combination of both.
Standard height winches are for bottom mounting only.
Low Profile winches are for side mounting.
Deep Storable winches are for bottom mounting and offer added storing capacity.

To insure proper engagement, all winches shall be installed so the user can see the pawl. Additionally, the winch shall be positioned so the pawl drops into the ratchet teeth by gravity. Winches shall never be installed in a position where the user cannot see the pawl engagement, or where they must hold the pawl to engage the ratchet tooth. All winches, except portable and sliding styles, must be welded or bolted to the vehicle structure. Minimum welding requirements are 1/4" fillet weld, 4" long on both sides of the frame and 1/8" penetration. If winches are installed in track, the track shall be attached to the vehicle structural members. The vehicle structure should have equal or greater strength than the winch.
